UNDERGRAD Itzy Daniela Pérez Alvarado
Population and Evolutionary Genomics
As an undergraduate student in Genomic Sciences at UNAM, ENES Juriquilla, I have developed a strong interest in pathogen evolution and how these agents have evolved over time to impact diverse populations. My current research focuses on characterizing the evolutionary dynamics of infectious diseases during Mexico’s Colonial period, utilizing bioinformatic tools to analyze ancient DNA and reconstruct their historical impact. I am particularly interested in understanding how pathogens adapt to changing environments and host pressures to meet their evolutionary needs.
