Mission

Our mission is to conduct research, teaching, outreach, and dissemination at the highest international level, focusing on the human genome and its model organisms. We aim to achieve this by developing the necessary infrastructure to generate both human and physical resources and fostering national and international academic collaboration.

Vision

Our vision is to become a leading international academic entity in our field. We will achieve this by maintaining a robust academic collaboration program with highly prestigious international institutions and leaders.

LIIGH and Society

At LIIGH-UNAM, we actively engage with our society through various initiatives. We organize workshops and schools for young students, interact with national and international news outlets, and visit educational institutions to give seminars and talks on our research.

We also participate in community science fairs, which allows us to share our work broadly. We champion the importance of giving back research results to research participants when appropriate.

We believe that our genomic research should be done by scientific teams in Latin America and benefit Latin Americans. These efforts aim to inspire and educate the public about the importance and impact of genomic research.

Events

At LIIGH, we frequently organize community and outreach events to foster public understanding and appreciation of genomic science. These events include educational workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions designed to engage a broad audience, from young students to community members. Through these initiatives, we aim to inspire the next generation of scientists and promote awareness of the significant impact of genomic research on society.

Oportunities

We encourage you to check out the different research groups for training opportunities!
