Population and Evolutionary Genomics
I am a PhD candidate at Pop-Evo-Gen Lab. My research focuses on paleogenomics and population genomics, with particular emphasis on the genetic diversity and evolution of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system in ancient populations from the pre-Hispanic and colonial periods.
More broadly, I am interested in understanding how genomic variation has shaped and been shaped by major historical transitions in the history of Mexico, including demographic change, population continuity and replacement, and the biological impact of contact and colonization. Through a genomic perspective, my work seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of Mexico’s past.
