Mariana is a PhD student investigating the composition of microbial communities in traditional Mexican agave juice fermentations. She uses the Meta-HiC approach to reconstruct metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) and, examines microbial succession, phage-host dynamics, and metabolic capacities throughout the fermentation process.
