Master’s degree H. Alessandro López Hernández
Computational Population Genetics
I am a PhD candidate specializing in computational population genetics and molecular anthropology, with a professional background. I obtained my bachelor´s degree at Faculty of Science, UNAM, and a master´s degree in Biological Science in Diego Ortega-Del Vecchyo´s Lab. My work focuses on leveraging genomic data and spatial-temporal modeling to reconstruct the evolutionary history of human populations, particularly focusing on Eurasian genetic diversity throughout the Holocene and Pleistocene refugia theory. I have experience in developing bioinformatic pipelines, utilizing forward-time simulations in SLiM and Bayesian phylogenetic inference via BEAST to estimate critical evolutionary parameters like selection and migration. My technical toolkit includes proficiency in R, Python, and Bash, alongside spatial modeling in QGIS for paleo-environmental reconstruction.
