Cancer Genomics and Bioinformatics

Estef Vazquez is a PhD candidate at CGBio Lab, investigating acral melanoma, an aggressive cancer with poor prognosis that affects the Mexican population. Using spatial transcriptomics and proteomics, she analyzes FFPE tumor samples to understand how cancer cells evade immune detection within the tumor microenvironment. Estef earned her bachelor´s degree in Biotechnology from the Autonomous University of Queretaro. Her research focuses on understanding ulceration and the interactions between immune and cancer cells, with the goal of improving oncology treatments for patients in Latin America.

Outside of the lab, you´ll find her jamming with her rock band, running, or enjoying a good cup of coffee :-)
