Population and Evolutionary Genomics
I am a final-year student in the Bachelor’s Program in Genomic Sciences at UNAM, with a strong interest in human pathogenic viruses and their interactions with the immune system. In my current work at the Population and Evolutionary Genomics group, I focus on characterizing ancient viruses from the pre-Hispanic and colonial periods. I am also interested in how the Spanish conquest altered the composition of viruses circulating in Mexico and its consequent impact on the population of New Spain.
