Julio-ColladoJulio Collado leads the Computational Genomics Program at UNAM. He develops computational  methods for studying the regulation of gene expression in bacteria, especially in E. coli. He participated in the annotation of the initial E. coli genome and is behind the creation of one of the most used databases of bacterial regulatory networks, RegulonDB, continuously supported by NIH for more than a decade. He is a recipient of the National Prize of Arts and Sciences of Mexico and has been recognized as a Distinguished Fellow (Class 2015) of the International Society of Computational Biology, among other awards.
